City Centre Campus

Plans to redevelop Wakefield College’s Margaret Street Campus, recently approved by the Wakefield MDC, have been put on hold as the result of a decision by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) not to include the College's bid for capital funding among the few College new build projects to be taken forward for funding approval at this stage.

College Principal Sue Griffiths said, “We are hugely disappointed, but Wakefield and our students deserve the best and we will ensure that is what we give them. We are undertaking an intensive programme of refurbishment and the imperatives will be done over the summer break. We will update furnishings and undertake structural work to provide improved classroom facilities. We will then rethink our property strategy and about how we use our two Wakefield Campuses and the resources we have in the best way, for the benefit of all of our learners.”
