Bouncers go back to Class
Wakefield College is helping to change the
traditional image of a doorman by providing would be
bouncers with an industry recognised qualification which
is unique to the college in this area.

John Smith (Stood) and Peter Taylor (Lying Down)
acting out a role-play situation as part of the
Door Supervisor course.
|
The course is essential for people wishing to pursue
a career as a door supervisor, as the industry is now
regulated and all ‘bouncers’ require a licence.
The programme, which is validated by the British Institute
of Inn Keeping, is designed to help students defuse
volatile situation in a non-physical way, by means of
conflict management.
Students also cover first aid, drug awareness weapon
examination and fire regulations as part of their training
.
Course Tutor Neil Richard said, “The image of
a bouncer is changing, there is a much greater degree
of professionalism about the job and through this course
we hope to instil that thinking, into many of the pubs
and clubs in the local area”
