Students raise cash through expedition
Wakefield College students will be setting
off on an 80-mile expedition soon, all in the name of
charity. The 37 2nd year Public Service students and
four members of staff hope to raise money for Yorkshire
Cancer research by walking from Humber Bridge to Filey
Brigg over the course of 5 days.
The students have been responsible for the co-ordination
and planning of the whole event including the booking
of accommodation, hiring of equipment and organising
of sponsorship.
The expedition is a mandatory element of the BTEC National
Diploma in Public Services course. Course Co-ordinator
Lesley Rowlands said,” This is an ideal opportunity
for students to develop their organisational skills
and at the same time know their achievements will also
raise money for a very worthwhile course”
The expedition over North Yorkshire will begin on Monday
the 16th of May and the group hope to return back on
Friday the 20th.
