College A-level results are in a class
of their own... again
There were hugs, smiles and tears of joy at
Wakefield College today when students came to collect
their A-level results. They had good reason to be overjoyed
too after having achieved the highest ever overall pass
rate in the history of the College.
Celebrations were under way after students carried
off an overall pass rate of over 95% compared with 94%
last year, with 19 subjects achieving 100% pass rates
including Maths, Chemistry and Physics. This compares
with 17 subjects gaining full marks last year. The number
of students achieving high grades also saw a significant
improvement with 34% of students gaining A and B grades
compared to 28% last time around. AS level students
also had reasons to smile having gained an overall pass
rate of 85% with 10 subject areas having a 100% pass
rate.
Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE)
Double Awards once again saw an increase in the overall
pass rate to 96%, hugely above the national average,
whilst the Single Award students posted a 2% increase
to an overall pass rate to 92%.
College Vice-Principal Kaye Fisher was full of praise;
she commented, “This is a fantastic set of results
especially on the back of last years’ record-breaking
achievements. Staff and students alike should all be
extremely proud of themselves, this set of results is
a superb testimony to the hard-work and commitment of
everyone at the College. “
Head of Sixth Form, Tony Rex, said,” The results
are tremendous and reflect the high standards that we
set our students in the Sixth Form Academy - they should
all be proud of all the hard work that has underpinned
their success.”
