College and Catalogue collaboration launches State-of-the-art photography studio

Students at Wakefield College joined forces with mail order giant Empire Stores to work on a unique collaborative project to launch the College’s new state-of-the-art photography studio this week.

Wakefield College held a fashion shoot with a difference. HND Photography students were set a challenge to photograph the latest trends of the season all modelled by Wakefield’s very own Performing Arts students who were expertly styled by the College’s Hair and Beauty students.

The live brief organised by HND Photography course leader Malcolm Briggs, saw 2nd year HND Photography students working alongside a professional photographer to shoot clothing from Empire Stores Autumn/Winter 2006 and Spring/Summer 2007 collections.

Malcolm said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for my students and others from Wakefield College to work together to taste real world demands and work for a ‘live’ client. All the students were challenged on the day and I am extremely pleased with the quality of work produced.

“I am grateful to Empire Stores for giving the students this unique opportunity and providing all the clothing needed for the photo shoot. I hope this is the start of a long-term working relationship and we look forward to working on future projects together.”
