Rugby chiefs to provide leadership lessons
Business leaders from Yorkshire are being offered a unique opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names from the world of Rugby League. The Leadership Lessons from the League event, organised by The Yorkshire Leadership Programme in association with Northern Leadership Academy, Wakefield Wildcats, Leeds Rhinos and the Rugby Football League (RFL), is taking place on Wednesday 18th February at the Wakefield College’s Thornes Park Campus.
Leadership coaching expert at the College David Taylor, said, “In recent years Rugby League has made some huge changes in the way it is run by putting effective systems in place, identifying and expressing what the core values underpinning the sport are, creating a shared culture in the sport as a whole, managing how it presents itself to the world, as well as building the actual sporting performance on the pitch. All these are attributes that business leaders will be able learn from at this event, they can then implement similar practices to give them that competitive edge.”
Amongst the speakers will be Leeds Rhinos’ Chief Executive Gary Hetherington, Chief Executive of the RFL Nigel Wood, Leeds Rhinos’ Head Coach Brian McClennan and Wakefield Wildcats’ captain Jason Demetriou.
Tickets for the event are £45 each or £35 for a group of 4 or more. Profits from the event will be donated towards the Adam Watene Fund and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.
