Staff from Wakefield College recently welcomed their counterparts from Thai Nguyen University in Vietnam as part of a growing partnership between the two educational institutions.

A group of six IT tutors spent two weeks at the College, during which time they had the opportunity to find out about the UK educational system, including the latest teaching methods used by Wakefield College staff, which incorporates web based technologies.
The visit followed a similar trip College staff made to Thai Nguyen University earlier this year during which time they had a look around at the facilities, met staff and students and observed the teaching methods employed there.
Commenting on their time at the College, one of the visitors said, “Everyone at the College has been very welcoming and friendly, we have learnt a great deal about the many innovative teaching methods that are used here, including interactive smartboards. We can take many ideas back to Vietnam and incorporate them into our own teaching and learning environment.”
Wakefield College IT lecturer Sally Thompson, who has been involved with the project from its inception, said, “There are two main purposes to this visit: we want staff and students from both institutions to share best practice; we also want to help develop the English skills of the staff and students from Vietnam, which will in turn help them gain placements in other western countries.
“Wakefield College is proud to have this partnership with Thai Nguyen University. It has given both parties an opportunity to find out a great deal about each others countries and educational systems. We look forward to continuing working together.”
