The Foundation Degree in Commercial Photography will be the first course to benefit from the College’s commercial partnership and is the beginning of the College working to develop and support a strategy where students are encouraged to operate as innovators and entrepreneurs.
A major part of this development is the Caleb Group’s Coach House Gallery. The Gallery is already used as a hub of innovation and enterprise and will be used by the College to help align students with commercial success as they experience real-time, practical learning in a commercial environment.
Malcolm Briggs, programme leader at Wakefield College says: “This partnership is a wonderful opportunity for our students. Given the recent economic crisis it is probably fair to say that commercially things will never be the same again. Our intention is to communicate that thought through a different way of teaching that gives our students the knowledge to learn and apply business skills in a supportive and appropriate context to ensure they are future proof.”
Mike Croft says: “This will be a unique partnership offering students the opportunity to build real-world photographic skills working with professionals from the industry and at the same time form sound business understanding to enable them to be successful in a business setting.”
