Wakefield college takes part in second national colleges’ week
The second Colleges Week, the national celebration of the role colleges play in creating opportunities for individuals, businesses and Britain, is taking place from 9-15 November 2009.
Colleges Week is being coordinated and organised by the Association of Colleges (AoC) and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS).
This year Wakefield College will join the national celebrations with a variety of projects and events, all culminating in its annual Graduation Ceremony on Saturday 14 November, where more than 100 students will graduate in a variety of subject areas such as Business, ICT, Health and Social Care, Engineering and Leadership.
As part of the celebrations, the College has also set up an alumni page on the popular social networking site Facebook. Posters and banners celebrating the success of individual students and local businesses with which the College has worked will also be displayed across its three Campuses.
College Principal, Sue Griffiths, said “Colleges” Week is a real opportunity to celebrate the opportunities that colleges create for both individuals and businesses and to recognise our world class workforce that is helping to build Britain’s future.”
