Art, Media & Design at Wakefield College

The creative industries offer many exciting and varied career paths. Whether you want to be behind the camera or in front of it, working with technology or fabric, we have a course that’s right for you.

We offer high-quality courses across a range of subjects including film and television, photography, computer games design, 3D modelling, 3D animation, web design, graphic design, advertising and illustration, visual effects, fashion, art, and textiles.

Teaching takes place at the Wakefield City Campus with specialist workshop facilities and well-resourced teaching areas. Our tutors have extensive industry experience and have developed strong links with many local and national organisations, enabling students to undertake live projects and exhibit their work regularly throughout the year.

Key Points
  • excellent software and hardware
  • staff with extensive, relevant industry experience
  • strong links with local and national organisations
  • students work on live briefs and exhibit their work regularly
  • various residentials including trips abroad to Berlin, Disneyland Paris and Barcelona

There was always a focus on employability on the course – on having relevant skills – whereas a lot of courses don’t. We were encouraged to learn independently, which is important in the industry, getting good guidance but not having it all done for you is key.
