“I’m from Leeds but I really wanted to come to this College. It has good facilities, and you get to experience what it’s like in the industry because of Gaskell’s, which is a real working restaurant at the College.

“As part of my course, I did a placement in Malta for three weeks working at the Hilton, which was great experience, and I also made good contacts there.

“I gained a lot of confidence and new skills, which have improved my CV. The course helped to prepare me by giving me the right skills.

“When I finished College I went to work in London at the Olympics and Paralympics, in the Village catering for all the athletes. It was a fantastic experience. The opportunity came from our tutor who had heard that they were looking for people.

“I now work for Novotel in Leeds in the kitchens but my plans for the future include travelling and working in different countries.”
