Wakefield College going to the AoC Sport National Championships

Mark Bostock will be running in the Men’s Cross Country Final

Wakefield College will be flying the flag for Yorkshire this April as Mark Bostock, a 1st year on the Sports Performance & Excellence course will be running in the Men’s Cross Country Final on Saturday 22 April 2017. 

Mark qualified in style by finishing runner up in the Yorkshire & Humberside regional tournament putting in a strong performance in his first run for Wakefield College up at York University.

The Association of Colleges Sports National Championships will take place at Nottingham Universities brand new and state-of-the-art sports village.

The National Championships are one of the largest annual sporting events held in England and provide an opportunity for students to compete at a high level against opponents from England, Scotland and Wales. Many students who have competed at the Championships have gone on to great success in the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games as well as leading professional clubs. It is run over 3 days in April (21,22 & 23) starting with an opening ceremony and finishing with a spectacular closing ceremony to celebrate sporting achievement and the hard work and dedication which goes on in the colleges around the country.

Preparing already for the finals, Mark says “I’m very happy to have the opportunity to represent my College in this big race, and also very pleased that my training has taken me to the national final.”

Ben Severn, Head of Competitive Sports adds, “We’re all incredibly proud of Mark and what he’s achieved in his training. It’s a fantastic opportunity for him.”

Anyone can travel down to the finals to support Mark in his quest for victory and take advantage of the high performance sport taking place over the weekend.
