Students experience college master classes with STEMPLUS

Wakefield College recently welcomed over 170 students in Year 8 and 9 at local schools to take part in STEMPLUS master classes. These enthusiastic learners had the opportunity to try out activities in a range of subject areas across college, particularly focusing on science, games development, and computing.

Wakefield College will be flying the flag for Yorkshire this April as Mark Bostock, a 1st year on the Sports Performance & Excellence course will be running in the Men’s Cross Country Final on Saturday 22 April 2017.

Wakefield College learners visit Drax power station

Drax power station kindly opened its doors to 27 Level 2 Electrical Installation learners from Wakefield College recently. The trip consisted of a very informative tour of the power station, showing our students the extensive process of generating electricity and supplying it across the UK.

Musical Theatre students from the University Centre at Wakefield College have been busy in rehearsals recently preparing to showcase their talents when they perform ‘The Little Angel’ – a new piece written by their Musical Theatre lecturer Paul Dale-Vickers.

College celebrates Graduation Ceremony

A congregation of more than 500 gathered at Wakefield Cathedral last Saturday to see students from the University Centre at Wakefield College receive higher level qualifications at the annual Graduation Ceremony. This year’s guest speaker Mark Burns-Williamson, Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, took the opportunity to praise the College for its hard work and congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
