College celebrates Graduation Ceremony

A congregation of more than 500 gathered at Wakefield Cathedral last Saturday to see students from the University Centre at Wakefield College receive higher level qualifications at the annual Graduation Ceremony. This year’s guest speaker Mark Burns-Williamson, Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, took the opportunity to praise the College for its hard work and congratulated the graduates on their achievements.

Talented school students get a taste of college life

Talented key stage 3 students from local schools were welcomed to Wakefield College recently to take part in STEMPLUS masterclasses. The students, many of whom are part of their school’s gifted & talented cohorts, had the opportunity to try out activities in a range of subject areas including science, technology, engineering, maths and digital industries.

‘Topping Out’ Ceremony for new Advanced Skills and Innovation Centre

The signing of a beam and laying of bricks marked the ‘Topping Out’ of Wakefield College’s new £6.9M Advanced Skills and Innovation Centre (ASIC) at a special event last week. Senior College staff were joined by representatives from a number of stakeholder groups to celebrate the milestone.

A Level students from Wakefield College’s Sixth Form have once again shone after the class of 2016 achieved another strong set of results. Figures revealed last night showed an increase in the number of students studying A Levels and that the overall pass rate hit 97% for the third year running.
