College celebrates Graduation Ceremony

A congregation of more than 500 gathered at Wakefield Cathedral last Saturday to see students from Wakefield College receive higher level qualifications at the annual Graduation Ceremony. This year’s guest speaker was Dave Pannell, former student and entrepreneur, who took the opportunity to praise the College for “producing some of the best, most employable graduates of any college in the country”.

Construction at Lightwaves Open Event

On Saturday 23rd November Wakefield College Construction will be offering the opportunity for you to come and attend an open event at the new city centre Lightwaves facility. Between 10:00am and 2:00pm you will be able to call in meet with staff and students at the centre and take part in plumbing, electrical and groundwork activities. The day is ideal for those students who have applied or thinking about applying, to get a taste of what life would like if they came on the program next year studying from our Light waves centre.

Research backs economic impact of College

Research into the economic impact of Wakefield College has confirmed the huge influence it has on its learners and the District as a whole. The study undertaken by economic research specialists, EMSI, calculated that contributions of former College learners who are currently employed in the regional workforce amounts to £165.8 million in added income in the City of Wakefield’s economy each year whilst the economic contribution of the College to the local business community in the City of Wakefield is £183.9 million each year.

Wakefield College celebrates A Level success

A Level students from Wakefield College’s Sixth Form have once again come up trumps after the class of 2013 achieved another strong set of results. Figures revealed last night showed the overall pass rate exceeding 95% for the tenth year in succession. In addition to the A level success an impressive 13 BTEC Extended Diploma students achieved three distinction stars – the highest results possible.
