College apprentices get on their bikes

Wakefield College apprentices from Coca Cola will put their pedal power to the test when they take part in the inaugural Tour de Coke. Engineering apprentices Polly Hetherington, Harry Ainsworth and Business Admin apprentice Caitlin Simper will represent Team Wakefield when they battle it out with over 100 Coca Cola employees from across the country at Mallory Park, near Leicester this weekend.

Children’s University trail proves a winner

Children from across the district descended onto Wakefield recently taking part in a variety of activities marking the first ever Wakefield Children’s University Cultural Trail. The College teamed up with a number of Learning Destinations for the activities.

Holocaust survivor visits Wakefield College

Students from Wakefield College were given a first-hand account of the Holocaust this week when survivor Marc Schatzberger visited to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. Marc delivered a talk to students on the Public Services, Law and Politics courses and took questions helping students gain a deeper understanding of the Holocaust.

Apprenticeship Job Shop opens in Wakefield

Shoppers hitting the high street in Wakefield could bag themselves an apprenticeship after the Apprenticeship Drop-in Centre was officially opened. The shop, based in Market Hall on Union Street, is a joint venture backed by Wakefield College and Wakefield Council.
