Directions

From M1 Northbound

  1. Leave the M1 at Junction 39 and join the Denby Dale Road/A636 towards Wakefield.
  2. At the fourth roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Charlesworth Way/A636.
  3. Go through 1 roundabout and turn left onto Ings Road/A638.
  4. Continue to follow the A638, continue straight onto Westgate.
  5. Use any lane to turn slightly left onto Mulberry Way.
  6. At the cross roads go straight ahead and the Wakefield City Campus is on the left.

From M1 Southbound

  1. Leave the M1 at junction 41 and join the A650 towards Wakefield.
  2. At the third roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Leeds Road/A61/A650.
  3. Keep right to stay on Leeds Road/A61/A650.
  4. Continue to follow A650, the Wakefield City Campus will be on the right.

Directions

From M1 Northbound

  1. Leave the M1 at junction 39 and join the A636 towards Wakefield.
  2. Continue across two roundabouts towards Wakefield until you go under a railway bridge.
  3. Turn left onto Thornes Road/B6475 after 0.5 mile turn right onto Gill Sike Road.
  4. Turn right onto Horbury Road/A642 and then take the first right onto the access drive to Thornes Park Campus.

From M1 Southbound

  1. Leave the M1 at junction 40 and join Wakefield Road/A638 towards Wakefield.
  2. Continue to follow the A638, after 1.7 mile take a sharp right onto Horbury Rd/A638/A642.
  3. The access drive to Thornes Park Campus will be on the left after 0.2 mile.

Our Thornes Park Campus is located in the centre of Thornes Park. Direct access to the Campus and the free Campus car parking is only possible from the Horbury Road side of the Park, but some satellite navigation systems will try to direct you to the Campus via one of the other Park access points. Use the postcode WF2 8TY to be directed to the correct entrance to Thornes Park.

Directions

From M62

  1. Leave the M62 at Junction 32.
  2. Follow signs for Castleford/Glasshoughton on Park Road then turn left onto Colorado Way following Xscape and Freeport signs.
  3. Go straight ahead at first roundabout.
  4. Take first left onto Thunderhead Ridge at second roundabout and continue 200 metres to the Castleford Campus.

The Waterton Building & Mechanics’ Theatre

In 2012 the College was delighted to acquire the Grade 2 listed Wakefield Museum building, which was built in 1823, to develop into a Performing Arts Centre. Situated only a little over 300 metres from the Wakefield City Campus, the Waterton Building includes as its centre-piece the 160 seat Mechanics’ Theatre, named in honour of one of the building’s previous uses. The centre also includes drama and dance studios, spacious rehearsal rooms and backstage workshops.

Directions

From M1 Northbound

  1. Leave the M1 at Junction 39 and join the A636 towards Wakefield.
  2. Turn left at the third roundabout and pass around the one way system following signs for the town centre and Westgate Railway Station.
  3. After passing Westgate Railway Station turn left at the second set of traffic lights onto Wood Street.
  4. The Waterton Building is then 100m on the left.

From M1 Southbound

  1. Leave the M1 at junction 41 and join the A650 towards Wakefield.
  2. At the third roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Leeds Road/A61/A650.
  3. Use the 2nd from the right lane to stay on Leeds Rd/A61/A650.
  4. Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Leeds Road/A61.
  5. Continue on Northgate, take Rishworth Street to Wood Street.
  6. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Northgate, then immediately turn right onto Rishworth Street at the traffic lights, continuing onto Bond Terrace.
  7. Turn left onto Wood Street at the traffic lights, the Waterton Building/Mechanics’ Theatre will be on the right.

  5. Follow the A61, you will see Lightwaves on your right after 1km.
  6. Turn right onto Saville Street, then turn right again onto Lower York Street, Lightwaves will be on the right.

  1. Leave the M1 at junction 41 and join the A650 towards Wakefield.
