Salaries are paid monthly in arrears on the 29th of the month by credit transfer.
Where the 29th falls on a weekend or bank holiday the salary is paid on the previous working day. Unless otherwise discussed and agreed at interview and confirmed in the letter of appointment, all salaries will be at the minimum point of the scale.
All annual increments will be awarded on 1st February, subject to satisfactory performance, except where a member of staff is appointed to a post on or after 1st August in which case the increment will be payable on achieving 6 months’ service.
Normal working hours will be in accordance with your contract of employment and will not exceed 37 per week. Please note that some support staff may be required to undertake evening duty.
You may be required to undertake work on Saturday or Sunday as appropriate. Where this need arises adequate notice will be given to you and you will receive time off in lieu.
Managers will also be required to cover evening duties up to 9.00pm on a rota basis.
Holiday entitlement for all support staff including instructors, assessors and technicians is 30 days. Lecturing staff and Managers’ holiday entitlement is 37 days. All annual leave is pro rata for part time workers and subject to agreement with your line manager.
In addition to annual leave entitlement all staff also have 8 bank holidays and public holidays and up to 5 additional days may be added by the College when it wishes to close for operational efficiency. (Pro rata for part time workers)
A system of flexible working hours operates in the College for most support staff. Your line manager will inform you if you are eligible and explain the operation of the scheme.
There are two pension schemes administered by the College:
Support staff are eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Unless where a contract is for less than 3 months. Academic staff are eligible to join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Managers will be sent the appropriate documentation depending upon their appointment. All new starters will be automatically included in these schemes unless the College is informed otherwise.

The procedure to follow if you are absent due to sickness can be found on the College Staff Intranet and must be adhered to.
The College has a recognition agreement with certain unions and you may wish to join the appropriate union for your category of employment.

All appointments are made subject to the receipt of satisfactory written references, one of which should be your current or (if currently unemployed) previous employer.
Any job at the College which involves regular work with children, young people or vulnerable adults will require the applicant to make an initial disclosure of any previous convictions on the Rehabilitation of Offenders form. The successful applicant will then be required, as a condition of their employment, to undergo a further check via the Criminal Records Bureau.
