What Our Staff Have to Say

“One of the main reasons I came to the College was that it recently had an inspection with an excellent Ofsted result and good previous Ofsted results.”

Staff Training & Development Opportunities

Staff Development Day
There are two Continuing Professional Development days during the year where the College is effectively closed to the public and all College staff engage in a variety of short courses during the day. Our Spring Continuing Professional Development day is dedicated to personal health and well being, and has included session such as Indian head massage, introduction to the gym, five a side football, healthy eating, stress management, yoga, dancing and many more.

The Autumn Continuing Professional Development day usually has a more academic theme and aims to prepare staff to deal with any emerging College issues or external factors are that may impact on the College.

Staff Training & Development Opportunities
In line with the College priority 3: “Valuing the leaders, teachers, trainers and support staff of the future” Wakefield College offer an ongoing internal programme of Continuing Professional Development activities.  All staff are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities available in-house.  In 2006-07 over 6,300 staff hours were devoted to training and development from our internal Continuing Professional Development programme of events.

The College also supports a vast range of individuals to undertake training from external organisations or long accredited internal courses. In 2006-07 this amounted to over 10,000 hours of staff time.

The value the College places on developing staff skills was recognised in the 2006 inspection report when inspectors said that Wakefield College have an “excellent programme of staff training and development”.
