Prince’s Trust project learners celebrate success..

Learners from Wakefield College gathered to celebrate their success recently following the successful completion of their Prince’s Trust qualification. Students on the 12 week programme were joined by staff, friends, families and other VIPs as they reflected over their learning and received their certificates of achievement.

A Wakefield College student has been praised for his sporting abilities after winning a string of local and regional swimming competitions. Thomas Raddings, 16, from Pontefract has now set his sights even higher and hopes to continue progressing both in the swimming pool and at College.

Year 10 Taster Days

Year 10 students from across the District got a taste of life at Wakefield College last week. More than 450 learners from Kettlethorpe High School, Wakefield City Academy, Carleton High, Horbury Academy, St Wilfrid's and St. Thomas A Beckett took part in the College's Taster Day where they had the opportunity to try out a range of subjects including A Levels, hospitality and catering, sport, public services, plumbing and IT.

College bricklayers building for the future

Level 3 learners from the College’s bricklaying course are nearing the end of their time at the College. The students, based at the Castleford Campus, have spent 3 years under the guidance of tutor Chris Mellars. During this time the students studied a range of practical and theoretical skills including building solid and cavity walls as well as learning about technical drawings, technology, health and safety and site procedures.
