Step Up into Construction

Construction, a career that’s going places

Step Up Into Construction is an exciting project designed to attract more people into the construction industry and allow employers to invest in the future of construction.

Step Up into Construction is a collaborative partnership set up to deliver work placements, training, further education and employment in the construction industry in Yorkshire.

A grant fund of £500k from the England European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme (ESIF) 2014 - 2020 has been match funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to provide a total of £1million.

With major skills shortages and the need for up to 224,000 new jobs in the industry, now is the time to consider a career in construction.

Colleges and other partners across the Leeds City region are aiming to engage unemployed or inactive individuals aged 16+ with training, employability skills and work placements.

What we’re offering

Wakefield College are running two rounds of training, one in January 2017 and the second in February 2017*.
