Press Release Motor Vehicle Automotive

A Wakefield College Motor Vehicle student, who painstakingly prepared his Mini for the upcoming British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) Mighty Mini Championships, is all set for the new season which starts later on this month.

Thomas Moseley, 19 is currently studying at the College’s skillsXchange on the Level 2 Vehicle Body and Paint Operations course. As a Mini enthusiast, Tom fell in love with the car from an early age and has taken his enthusiasm a step further. Utilising the skills gained at the College, Tom went about fully refurbishing the car by rebuilding the engine and giving it a re-spray.

Commenting on his hopes for the future, Tom said: “I want to learn as much about different elements of cars and would love a career in motorsport either as a driver or a team member. I already have experience in auto electrics, engine building and race mechanics so this body repair and paint techniques course at Wakefield College is ideal to complete my CV. I have been racing karts and cars for five years and I am confident of making progress this season with my newly painted car. In the BRSCC Mighty Mini Championship, I am one of the youngest drivers I know, I will get better and hope for a podium place sooner rather than later.”

Motor Vehicle tutor, Gareth Evans said: ”Tom joined the Body Repair and Refinish course in September 2010 and has shown excellent academic ability, mirrored with very capable practical skills in the workshop however, it is Tom's enthusiasm and hard working nature that has really allowed him to shine, and I am sure will continue to allow him great future success both on course and in his chosen career."
