Wakefield College recently welcomed its former student Adeem Younis to get a sneak peek into its new £7m Advanced Skills and Innovation Centre. Adeem, who studied Graphic Design at the College, saw first-hand the impressive new build that promises to transform high-level skills delivery in the District.

The new facility, which will welcome its first cohort of students later this month, includes general teaching facilities, specialist engineering labs, a 90 seat lecture theatre, a modern Apple Mac suite and  business incubation spaces.

Adeem was given a tour of the new facility by Wakefield College Director of Estates, Jon Howard and saw personally how the College has worked with employers, Leeds Enterprise Partnership and Wakefield Council on the project.

Commenting on the visit, Adeem said: “It was fantastic to see the progress that has been made at the College I attended and the outstanding facilities available in my home city. I sincerely wish all the present and future students all the best, as I know this centre has some of the best classrooms and equipment in the country.”

The ASIC project has received £3.3M investment through the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growth Deal – a £1 billion package of investment to accelerate good growth and create jobs across Leeds City Region.
