Welding expert and former student takes up teaching with Wakefield College

Former Wakefield College student and two times UK Skill Weld finalist Brian Fisher has taken up a lecturing position in Fabrication and Welding at our Castleford Campus.

Brian recently reach the finals at World Skills 2019, showcasing his welding skills and knowledge to compete against the best welders in the UK at the NEC in Birmingham.

Gary Wright, Head of Fabrication and Welding, said:

"The whole engineering team are very proud of Brian’s achievements and we were delighted when he agreed to join our fabrication and welding teaching team. We look forward to him passing on his expertise, skills and knowledge to our learners".

Lisa Macdonald, Executive Director for Curriculum, said:

“The College has been on a journey with Brian. His tutors have guided him through his apprenticeship and prepared him two years’ running for the prestigious Worldskills event. Brian has worked hard to develop his talents and deserves every success. It is now profound that he has joined the College as a valuable member of our teaching team”.
