This September sees the launch of the NEW BSc Hons in Computer Science course at the University Centre at Wakefield College. On this course students will learn highly desirable computing skills such as programming, cyber-security, artificial intelligence, big data analytics and mobile development. Students can participate in work placements with local employers within the computing industry and gain valuable experience in the industry. There are a wide number of computing & IT-related careers you can enter in this field, with the potential for employment spread across all career sectors.
Lecturer David Clapham said “We’ve worked with local employers when writing the degree to ensure that students will develop the knowledge and skills that employers want. The smaller class sizes at the University Centre mean you also have a lot more one-to-one support.”
The NEW BA in Criminology and Law (subject to validation) is proving very popular, designed to appeal to students who may wish to undertake careers within the criminal justice system including probation work, youth work, the police service and the prison service. The programme develops a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of crime and criminal justice both nationally and internationally, covering issues such as penology, offending behaviour, criminal justice and victimology, criminal law, immigration and asylum law and criminal litigation.
ASIC (Advanced Skills & Innovation Centre), the home of our University Centre, brings modern learning facilities and teaching for our students. With Lower fees than most universities and closer to home, the University Centre can offer students high-quality teaching in a more supportive learning environment with smaller size classes, all of which are important in today’s world.
Whether you decide you want to study one of these courses to change your career, to boost your career prospects further or to expand your knowledge with a professional qualification, now is the time to apply.
