This week Wakefield College is joining in with the 15th annual National Apprenticeship Week 2022 taking place across England celebrating the opportunities that apprenticeships bring.
“Here at Wakefield College, we relish in highlighting the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and our wider community. Apprenticeship Week is the perfect time to share our success and look at how we can support our district with future-ready skills,” said Head of Apprenticeships, Emma Turner.
The theme of National Apprenticeship Week 2022 is ‘Build the Future’, a continuation of the theme used in 2021 allowing the week to link to the key pillars of the Build Back Better campaign.
Technical education has been transformed in recent years through programmes such as apprenticeships, traineeships, T Levels, and the Kickstart Scheme. This week we celebrate how technical education can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills.
During the week the College will be sharing engaging stories of apprentice’s progression and how apprenticeships have kick-started incredible careers. Staff from the Business Development team will be looking at the apprenticeships on offer, promoting the benefits of apprenticeships to students as well as visiting local schools and colleges in the district encouraging individuals of any age to reach their career goals by building their skills and knowledge through an apprenticeship.
On Wednesday the College will be holding an Apprenticeships Drop in Event for employers at the Castleford Campus between 8am and 1pm where employers can join the apprenticeships team for an informal chat about the benefits and return on investment of employing apprentices, how employers are using apprenticeships to fill skills gaps, upskill and revitalise their workforce.
The week will also be used to recognise the resilience of employers, apprentices, assessors and trainers during Covid.
