Former student returns to buy Wakefield College site

Wakefield College is pleased to announce the sale of its Thornes Park Campus to Wakefield-based, award-winning humanitarian charity Penny Appeal. Founded by local entrepreneur and former College student, Adeem Younis, Penny Appeal will unveil plans for the site in the coming weeks.

Wakefield College purchase new AC/DC High Frequency sate of the art TIG welding sets

Wakefield College has purchased new AC/DC High Frequency state-of-the-art TIG sets. It enables the College to become an Endpoint Assessment Centre for Welding Standards in the Apprenticeship Framework and a Welding Institute (TWI) Approved Coded Welding Centre.

STEM Plus Masterclass

Monday 29th October saw over 100 students from partner schools across the district attend Wakefield College for the STEMplus masterclasses once again. Held during October, February and May half terms, more able year 8 and 9 students have the opportunity to participate in a range of challenging activities in STEM and digital industry related areas.

Open Event at Wakefield College to celebrate Colleges Week

Wakefield College opens its doors to the public this week during National Colleges Week. The College will see its Wakefield City, Castleford and Thornes Park Campuses welcome visitors between 5 and 7 pm on Wednesday 17 October. Wakefield College is a vital part of the District supporting over 8,000 learners to learn, train and get on. Colleges Week takes place from Monday 15 October to Friday 19 October 2018 and is part of the ‘Love Our Colleges’ campaign and sees colleges across the country hosting events to showcase the brilliant stuff they do, day in and day out, as well as national lobby of Parliament on Wednesday 17 October.
