Students achievements’ recognised with award ceremonies

Students from Castleford College and Wakefield College ended the academic year on a high with a number of student award ceremonies. The academic achievements of Animal Care, Automotive & Engineering, Construction, FLEX, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering and T Level students were recognised as part of the end-of-year award presentations.

Group launches Skills Bootcamp in Carbon Capture and Storage

In response to the rising demand for green skills, the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group has launched a first-of-its-kind Skills Bootcamp in the Principles of Carbon Capture and Storage. Formed in partnership with the Department for Education and the York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (Y&NY LEP), the Skills Bootcamp in the Principles of Carbon Capture and Storage aims to provide learners with the higher-technical skills and knowledge to operate this climate-saving technology.

Apprentices take on SkillsWeld 2023 National Qualifiers

Fabrication and Welding apprentices at Castleford College showed off their vast welding skills, as they took part in the SkillsWeld 2023 qualifiers. This saw apprentices complete four separate tests covering the three main types of welding processes - gas tungsten arc welding, stick welding and metal insert gas welding.

Student to represent Great Britain in Special Olympics World Games

Level 1 Childcare and Early Years student, Brooke Lammas, is gearing up to represent Great Britain in Field Hockey at the Special Olympics World Games 2023, in Berlin.

Brooke was selected for the England Hockey squad following a successful trial day at its national training centre in Berkshire.
