Automotive at Castleford College
If you’re enthusiastic about cars and motorcycles, studying a motor vehicle course with us could help you to turn your passion into a career.
In our superb, purpose-built, fully equipped motor vehicle workshops at our Castleford College, you’ll study towards qualifications in motor vehicle/ motorcycle engineering and body repair and refinishing.
You’ll be getting your hands dirty working on real cars and bikes, learning the skills needed for a career in the sector.
Key Points
- Realistic working environment – the students work with the latest technology on real vehicles from a regular client base
- Visits to various motor sports/motorcycle shows across the country
The atmosphere at the college is brilliant, the tutors are great, specially to those who have just started doing the course and need advice. After this I’m going to go down the apprenticeship route, preferably working on fire engines or in a garage with a fleet.

I love the fact that it’s hand on and practical. It’s a great atmosphere down in the workshops and the course is great for developing your skills and building up your independence.
My name is Ethan James and I’m doing Level 2 Motorcycle maintenance. When I’ve finished at Wakefield College I’m hoping to get a job or apprenticeship as a motorcycle mechanic in a local garage or a motorcycle dealer and just work on bikes all the time.
