Construction & Civil Engineering at Castleford College & Wakefield College

Traditional disciplines like carpentry, joinery and plumbing remain core skills, but technology has become important too, and our construction students can be found using computers as often as hammers or trowels!

Split between Castleford College and Wakefield College, both sites have live working environments and workshops so that you can learn the practical skills hands-on.

Group marks students’ achievements at Annual Awards Ceremony

The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group ended the year on a high as it celebrated its students’ achievements at its Annual Student Awards Ceremony. Held on Tuesday 12th December at Castleford College, 20 awards were presented throughout the evening across a range of subjects including Construction, Engineering and Mathematics.

West Yorkshire Colleges secure funding to accelerate digital innovation in education

West Yorkshire Colleges have been successful in securing £6.9 million from the Department for Education to digitise teaching and learning in key sectors. The funding is part of the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) and will launch a West Yorkshire digital innovation project led by colleges.

As part of its plans to grow its Construction and Engineering curriculum in line with industry demands, the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is recruiting for a number of vacancies in these key areas. The Group has recently seen significant expansion of its Construction and Engineering departments, following the launch of its brand-new range of Green Skills courses and development of new and enhanced facilities.
