The hospitality and catering industry is the largest growing sector in the world, but there is a shortage of skilled staff within the industry.

The majority of our students gain full-time employment before they’ve even finished their course with us! Our courses offer you the chance to begin a rewarding and exciting career, perhaps working at a famous restaurant or owning your own business.

Teaching isn’t confined to the classroom. You’ll use Gaskell’s, our award-winning training restaurant which is open to the public, our bar, Deli shop, industry-standard training kitchens and conference suite.

Hospitality & Catering Department receives professional equipment grant

Wakefield College is delighted to have received a generous £25,000 grant from The Savoy Educational Trust. The grant was awarded the to the College’s Hospitality and Catering department to fund professional cooking equipment in the award-winning student training restaurant, Gaskell’s Restaurant.

Hospitality and catering students from Wakefield College recently cooked up a historic feast in conjunction with West Yorkshire Archive Services.

Studying here allowed me to get experience of working in a busy kitchen and restaurant service at Gaskells and developing new skills working in the kitchens of Hiltons 5* hotel on a work experience trip to Malta.
