Hospitality & Catering

From boutique restaurants to global hotel chains, there is a worldwide shortage of qualified, skilled staff in the industry

Hospitality & Catering at Wakefield College

The hospitality and catering industry is the largest growing sector in the world, but there is a shortage of skilled staff within the industry.

The majority of our students gain full-time employment before they’ve even finished their course with us! Our courses offer you the chance to begin a rewarding and exciting career, perhaps working at a famous restaurant or owning your own business.

Teaching isn’t confined to the classroom. You’ll use Gaskell’s, our award-winning training restaurant which is open to the public, our bar, Deli shop, industry-standard training kitchens and conference suite.

Key Points
  • Opportunity to enter internal and external competitions such as Golden Apron
  • Provide catering at various events across the district including the Food, Drink and Rhubarb Festival and Armed Forces Day
  • Expertise of tutors brings wealth of industry experience
  • Great regional, national and international links
I’m constantly learning new skills which will enable me to progress further in my job as a catering assistant in a local school.
