Career opportunities in the music industry extend well beyond performance. If you don’t see yourself as a performer, you may aspire to a career as a sound engineer, songwriter, producer, promoter, teacher, manager, backline technician, sound designer or composer.
Whatever your enthusiasm, it’ll be nurtured by working interactively with your fellow students with the guidance of tutors who are dedicated to enabling you to fulfil your potential

What our students say about us...
The course is very engaging and the tutors are always there for you, encouraging you to achieve your best even when things get tough.
The course is a good combination of theatrical and practical work, but we are able to access the studio in our free time to keep on practicing our instruments which you wouldn’t necessarily be able to access at a larger university.
My time at Wakefield College has been very rewarding and I’ve learnt more about equipment, live music, and the businesses and organisations around Wakefield.
I now run my own recording studio and rehearsal rooms and work as a live music engineer, earning a living from doing what I love most.

Upload Festival
The Upload Music Festival is a yearly celebration of the performance talent of students from the popular music department, the Upload Festival is open to the public and is a ticket only event, traditionally over two days, and has taken place in various venues across Wakefield.
